Three Fatal South Carolina Traffic Accidents Occur Within 24 Hours

One Dead in Single Vehicle Accident in Dorchester County, South Carolina

According to Live5News.com, the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported an early-morning single-vehicle collision in Dorchester County that left one dead.

The driver was heading north on Wallace Ackerman Drive, approximately two miles east of Summerville, when they went off the right side of the road and into a pond.

The driver, who has not yet been identified by the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office, died on the scene. The Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.

One Person Killed in Single Vehicle Collision in Newberry County, South Carolina

According to Yahoonews.com, one person was killed in a late-night crash on Interstate 26 in the Midlands, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said Sunday.

A 2014 Kia sedan was driving east on I-26 and ran off the right side of the road near the 72-mile marker in Newberry County, near the junction with S.C. 121 at Exit 72.

The Kia crashed into the guard rail and veered across I-26 where it ran off the left side of the highway, hitting the cable barrier and flipping over. The driver, who was the lone occupant, was ejected and died.

There was no word if the driver wore a seat belt, and no other injuries were reported.

The Newberry County Coroner’s Office is expected to publicly identify the driver after notifying the next of kin. The Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.

Two People Injured, One Killed in Truck Crash in Orangeburg County, South Carolina

According to WCSC, the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported a single-vehicle crash that left one dead and two others injured in Orangeburg County.

It happened around 11:40 a.m. on SC 45 near where the towns of Holly Hill and Vance meet.

A 1998 Chevy truck traveling south on SC 45 ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, ran off the left side of the road, and hit a tree. While the truck was overturning, it hit a second tree.

The driver and the rear passenger were taken to a hospital. Meanwhile, the front passenger died.

The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the name of the deceased victim. The Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
